Day 5 - 6 | Ushuaia
After settling into your accommodation, catch a local taxi (approximately R75 one way) to Ushuaia’s old airport, Aeroclub, for panoramic views of the city, bay, harbour, and mountains. From this vantage point, you'll truly appreciate why Ushuaia is known as the "City at the End of the World." Begin your independent exploration with a photo stop at the iconic Ushuaia welcome sign. Stroll through the city’s historic centre, taking in the navy neighbourhood, Saint Christopher shipwreck along the promenade, and notable sites like the old prison, school, and police station. For a deeper dive into local history, consider visiting the End of the World Museum (optional; entrance not included). End your day with a dinner featuring the local speciality, king crab - renowned for its exceptional taste. After your meal, grab a taxi back to your hotel for a good night’s rest in preparation for tomorrow’s adventure.
The next day, embark on a half-day group excursion into the breathtaking Tierra del Fuego National Park. You’ll be picked up from your hotel and whisked past the slopes of Mount Susana and through the Ensenada Bay valley. Marvel at Redonda and Estorbo Islands, with the snow-capped Chilean peaks of Mount Sampaio framing the horizon. Continue to Roca Lake for a scenic walk along the Lapataia River, where Condor Hill forms the natural border with Chile. Your journey continues to the Green and Black Lagoons, beaver dams, and expansive peat bogs - each stop offering stunning photo opportunities. For wildlife enthusiasts, an optional boat tour takes you to Martillo Island in the Beagle Channel. Along the way, visit Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, Seal Island, and Bird Island, home to penguins, seals, and diverse seabird species. Your bi-lingual guide will provide fascinating insights into these Patagonian wonders, making it an unforgettable experience.
