ITINERARY
Day 1: Carrick-on-Shannon
After arriving and checking in, you’ll be introduced to your boat and given a full pre-departure briefing by a base technician. They’ll walk you through the onboard systems, demonstrate how to handle the boat, and ensure you feel confident before setting off on your adventure.
Day 2: Carrick-on-Shannon – Leitrim
Lunch at the Lakeside Café, Lough Key Forest and Activity Park
Enjoy a meal at the Lakeside Café, located within the visitor centre at Lough Key Forest and Activity Park. For outdoor dining, the heated and covered Lakeside Terrace offers fantastic views across the water to Castle Island. The menu includes fresh sourdough toasties, hearty soups, salads, burgers, and tempting baked treats.
Day 3: Ballinamore
Ballinamore, meaning ‘Mouth of the Big Ford,’ is a peaceful town surrounded by lush countryside. Take advantage of the local hiking trails or explore on two wheels. The nearby Slieve Russell mountain offers stunning views, while the Slieve Russell Hotel boasts an 18-hole championship golf course, part of the exclusive PGA National network. For an alternative experience, visit the local equestrian centre.
Day 4: Ballinamore – Ballyconnell

Named after the legendary warrior Conal Cearnach, Ballyconnell is steeped in history. Anglers will be spoiled for choice, with numerous lakes and rivers home to everything from tench to impressive pike.
Day 5: Ballyconnell – Ballinamore

Make the most of your time here with a visit to Drumcoura Lake Resort, where you can enjoy horse riding or unwind in the resort’s saloon bar and restaurant.
Day 6: Ballinamore – Leitrim
Explore Leitrim
Known for its impressive track record in the national Tidy Towns competition, Leitrim is a great spot for a scenic walk or cycle ride. Rent an electric bike near the bridge or take a relaxed 90-minute stroll along the canal to Drumshanbo, a charming nearby town.
Day 7: Leitrim – Carrick-on-Shannon

Drumshanbo is a quintessential Irish village with a fascinating industrial past. The town is home to three beautiful churches, reflecting its rich religious heritage.
Back in Carrick-on-Shannon, stroll along the marina and boardwalk towards People’s Park, a lovely way to stretch your legs after a day of cruising. As the ‘marina capital of Ireland,’ the town provides a picturesque setting for the final evening of your journey.
Day 8: Departure
Enjoy a final breakfast on board before tidying up and disembarking by 9 am, unless you’ve arranged a late checkout.
