You know what they say about moms and their boys, right? Well, my son and I are no different! We are joined at the hip and love exploring the world. We take a trip every year to spend one-on-one time together. They grow up so fast! Every second counts. In 2023, as a birthday gift to my son, we hopped across the Indian Ocean to Mauritius. When people tell you about how magical Mauritius is, they are not exaggerating. All the amazing things I heard about Mauritius from friends under-sold the island! As soon as you step off that plane, you are immediately taken in by the island's energy. The life and pulse of Mauritius surely take away all the cares of the world as you are absorbed into paradise! Our 7-night stay started at the Radisson Blue Azuri – a lovely family-friendly resort on the north-east coast. Their Premium rooms are spacious and perfect for families with small kids. I began every morning with a walk along the meandering pathways through their lush tropical gardens, breathing in the fresh air and soaking up the warm sun to set my mind on the day ahead. The staff’s attention to detail was exceptional. They knew my son by name and would always pass by our table to catch up with him. To this day, my son still talks about James from the restaurant! The highlights of our stay at Radisson Blue Azuri were the live evening music that we enjoyed from our balcony as well as the Sega night that had me wishing that I wasn’t so stiff. We didn’t want to leave! For the second half of our trip, we moved to the Ravenala Attitude Hotel in Turtle Bay. Mind-blowing! With a wide selection of restaurants, pools and activities to choose from Ravenala is perfect for families, couples, and solo travellers alike. It surely embodies the art of tropical living! I loved their commitment to sustainability both economically by empowering the community and sourcing locally, as well as their environmental commitment to preserving the earth. For those who love to party late into the night, the resort also boasts a nightclub! From the markets to the mountains, there is so much to love about Mauritius! Whether you are an avid explorer or want to lie on the beach and sip cocktails, there is something in Mauritius for you!
