Traveling for the first time can be an exhilarating and sometimes overwhelming experience. Whether you're jetting off to a new country or exploring a neighbouring city, careful planning and a few savvy travel tips can make your journey smoother and more enjoyable. In this travel blog, we'll share some essential advice for first-time travellers to ensure that your trip is a memorable one. 1. Plan Ahead: Before you embark on your journey, spend some time researching your destination. Learn about the local culture, customs, and any visa requirements. Create a rough itinerary to help you make the most of your time, but also be flexible enough to embrace unexpected adventures. 2. Pack Light: One of the most common mistakes made by novice travellers is over-packing. Stick to the essentials, and choose versatile clothing items that you can mix and match. Don't forget to check the weather forecast for your destination and pack accordingly. A lightweight, well-organized suitcase or backpack can make a huge difference. 3. Travel Insurance: Invest in travel insurance to protect yourself from unforeseen circumstances like trip cancellations, medical emergencies, or lost luggage. It's a small expense that can provide peace of mind throughout your journey. 4. Travel Documents: Make copies of your passport, ID, and any visas you might need. Store these copies in a separate location from the originals. Additionally, consider saving digital copies on your smartphone or in a cloud-based service for easy access. 5. Money Matters: Inform your bank about your travel plans to avoid any issues with your credit or debit cards abroad. It's also a good idea to carry a small amount of local currency with you upon arrival for immediate expenses. Research currency exchange options and fees to get the best rates. 6. Learn Basic Phrases: While English is widely spoken, especially in tourist areas, learning a few basic phrases in the local language can go a long way in making connections with locals and showing respect for their culture. Phrases like "hello," "thank you," and "please" are a good place to start. 7. Stay Safe: Safety should always be a top priority. Be cautious with your belongings, especially in crowded places. Invest in a secure travel wallet or pouch to keep your valuables close. Avoid walking alone in unfamiliar areas after dark, and trust your instincts if something doesn't feel right. 8. Health Precautions: Research any vaccinations or health precautions required for your destination. Carry a basic first-aid kit with essentials like pain relievers, band-aids, and any necessary medications. Stay hydrated and be mindful of local food and water safety. 9. Stay Connected: Consider getting a local SIM card or an international data plan for your phone to stay connected with loved ones and access maps and translation apps. Free Wi-Fi may not always be readily available. 10. Embrace the Adventure: Finally, don't forget to have fun and immerse yourself in the local culture. Try new foods, interact with locals, and step out of your comfort zone. Travel is not just about the destination; it's also about the journey and the experiences you gather along the way. Traveling for the first time can be a transformative experience filled with unforgettable memories. By planning ahead, staying safe, and embracing the adventure, you can ensure that your first-time travel journey is a success. Bon voyage and happy travels!

Jet lag: the dreaded side effect of long-haul travel. We've all been there, stepping off a plane and feeling like a zombie as our bodies struggle to adjust to a new time zone. But fear not, fellow travellers, because in this blog, I'll be sharing some tried-and-true tips on how to survive and even thrive despite the clutches of jet lag. With these strategies, you can make the most of your adventures, no matter how far from home you roam. 1. Plan Ahead Your journey to conquer jet lag begins before you even board the plane. To minimize its impact, consider the following: Choose Wisely: Opt for flights that arrive at your destination during the daytime if possible. This aligns with your body's natural circadian rhythms, making it easier to adjust. Gradual Adjustments: If you have the time, start shifting your sleep schedule a few days before your trip. Go to bed and wake up an hour earlier or later each day, depending on your destination. Stay Hydrated: Dehydration can exacerbate jet lag symptoms, so drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your flight. 2. In-Flight Strategies The hours in the air can play a significant role in how your body copes with jet lag. Here's how to make the most of your time on the plane: Avoid Alcohol and Caffeine: Both alcohol and caffeine can disrupt your sleep patterns, so it's best to limit or avoid them during your flight. Hydrate: Cabin air is notoriously dry, so drink water regularly. It's also a good idea to avoid salty foods that can increase dehydration. Move Around: Stretch your legs, walk up and down the aisle, and do some in-seat exercises to improve circulation and reduce stiffness. Sleep Strategically: Depending on the time of your flight and when you arrive at your destination, you may want to try to sleep or stay awake on the plane. Follow the local time at your destination as closely as possible. 3. Upon Arrival Congratulations, you've made it to your destination! But your battle against jet lag isn't over just yet: Natural Light Exposure: Spend time outdoors during daylight hours. Natural light helps reset your body's internal clock and adjust to the new time zone. Stay Awake: If you arrive in the morning or early afternoon, resist the urge to nap. Push through the day to help your body adapt more quickly. Nap Strategically: If you must take a nap, limit it to 20-30 minutes to recharge without slipping into a deep sleep. Eat Smart: Try to eat meals at the local meal times, even if you're not hungry. This can help reset your body's internal clock. 4. Be Patient Remember that it takes time for your body to fully adjust to a new time zone. Jet lag can be frustrating, but stay patient and keep following these strategies consistently. It usually takes about a day per time zone crossed for your body to adapt fully. Jet lag may be an unwelcome companion on your travels, but armed with these strategies, you can minimize its impact and make the most of your adventures. Embrace the experience of exploring new cultures and destinations, and remember that a little jet lag is a small price to pay for the wonders of the world that await. So pack your bags, adjust your watch, and get ready to conquer time zones with confidence! Happy travels!

Here are some of the world’s best destinations that are also home to black sand beaches. While they are certainly unusual, many of them are worth a visit, whether you’re topping up your tan, feeling the cool Atlantic breeze or are just looking for something different to do on your next holiday. Iceland Reynisfjara is a world-famous black sand beach found on the South Coast of Iceland. Created by lava flowing into the ocean which cooled as it touched the water, this eye-catching natural wonder also features stunning basalt columns on the face of Gardar cliff that would give the Giant’s Causeway a run for its money. Away from Raynisfjara, Iceland has plenty of natural attractions to entice visitors. One of the most popular trips is to the Golden Circle – a sightseeing route laden with natural beauty and attractions. While a lot of the tours follow different routes, most of them will visit the main sights including Geysir, with its exploding hot springs, the awe-inspiring Gullfoss Waterfall and Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site which straddles the boundary between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. Tenerife The largest and most visited of all the Canary Islands, welcoming over 10 million travellers a year, Tenerife is one of Europe’s ultimate holiday hotspots. The majority of its beaches were made of black, volcanic sand, and although tourism officials have invested heavily to import golden sand from the Sahara, there’s plenty of the original left to enjoy. The black sand on Tenerife is less sticky and grainy than the golden sand, making it easier to brush it off your little ones when it’s dry. In addition to a booming beach scene, Tenerife also has top attractions such as Siam Park, one of the world’s best water parks, and Loro Parque, a tree-top adventure playground, as well as the UNESCO-listed Teide National Park with its various hiking trails. Alaska Just 60 miles from Anchorage, the black sand beach at Prince William Sound sits at the foot of tidewater glaciers, waterfalls and green hillside while also being home to diverse wildlife. At this beach, one of the most popular activities is kayaking, but make sure to bring your wetsuit as the water can be a bit nippy. Aside from Prince William Sound, the spectacular Arctic wilderness has dramatic mountains, glaciers and fjords, as well as historic frontier towns where you can hear tales of the Great Gold Rush. Denali National Park is one of its top attractions, with over 18,000 feet of ascending rock, ice and snow spread over six million acres of wild land, where visitors can enjoy dog sled rides in the winter and beautiful lakes in the summer. Alaska also offers opportunities to spot wildlife including whales, otters, bears and eagles and, when night falls, the shimmering Northern Lights. Hawaii Waianapanapa State Park’s Pebble Beach was formed in the same way as Reynisfjara, though has a slightly warmer climate. Dotted with freshwater caves, lava formations, ancient burial grounds and temples, this beach is a perfect spot for tanning and dipping your feet in to cool off, as black sand is considerably hotter than white or golden sand. In addition to exploring the rest of the state park and its natural crowd-pleasers such as the anchialine pools and its seabird colony, Hawaii has plenty to offer visitors including island-hopping activities, stretches of beautiful coastline and excellent hiking opportunities including Haleakala Volcano, which is the perfect spot to catch a sunrise. Santorini This Greek island may be famous for its whitewashed buildings, but in Santorini, you can also find sumptuous black sand and the warm Mediterranean Sea that laps up on it. One of the island’s top spots for relaxation are the beaches of Perissa and Perivolos, which are essentially the same strip of black sand, just one is in the north and the other is in the south. But Santorini isn’t all about catching rays and relaxing the day away, as there are plenty of things to do on the island. Head to its most famous monument, Imerovigli, a white church with a blue dome that looks out across the sea, ascend Santorini Volcano for incredible views across the region or even head to Kamari Village and catch a movie at the open-air cinema.

Australia richly rewards visitors to it's shores. If you're not taken in by the cosmopolitan cities, art, culture, or foodie scene, the breathtaking natural beauty will certainly enchant you. But because of its size, it's difficult to know where to start exploring. We’ve looked at some of the must-sees and -dos in this thrilling part of the world. Beach hop along the west coast The west has some remote, wild beaches best sought out on a leisurely road trip. Some are within easy reach of Perth, including those of Rottnest Island or Scarborough. Alternatively, the Margaret River region with its famous wineries (see below) has some superb stretches, and the Great Ocean Drive links West Beach, Fourth Beach, Nine-Mile Beach and Twilight Beach. Catch a football game at the MCG The world’s biggest cricket stadium, the Melbourne Cricket Ground has also been the home of Australian football since 1859. Catch a match here and you can also visit the Australian Sports Museum and take one of the fantastic stadium tours. Watch sunrise at Uluru Sacred to indigenous Australians, this sandstone monolith in the heart of the Red Centre in the Northern Territory is at its most spectacular at dawn, when the first rays of light hit the rock. Snorkel the Ningaloo Reef This World Heritage Site in north-western Australia is one of the planet’s largest, healthiest fringing reefs, with coral gardens as spectacular as those of the Great Barrier Reef. It’s perfect for snorkelling for those with moderate to high fitness and abilities. Wine and dine throughout Margaret River Home to some of Australia’s best wine producers (offering tours and tastings), this part of western Australia is also filled with creative chefs, working farms to visit, fruit-picking sites, farmers’ markets and cooking schools, for a fully immersive foodie experience. Watch the penguins come ashore on Phillip Island Day-trip distance from Melbourne, this stretch of sand is home to the world’s biggest colony of little penguins (Eudyptula minor). Come in the evening to stand on a viewing platform or boardwalk and watch them waddle from the ocean to their burrows. Ranger tours are also available. Hike Cradle Mountain in Tasmania A gorgeous climb for experienced hikers, this 12.5km route in the pristine Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park generally takes around seven hours. In the heart of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, Cradle Mountain has spectacular wildlife including Tasmanian devils, quolls, platypus, echidna, wombats and the black currawong. Take a swim at Bondi Icebergs, Sydney At the southern end of Bondi Beach, this tidal pool (its unheated water is taken directly from the ocean) is part of an Australian winter swimmers’ club established in 1929 but is open to everyone all year round. There’s also a small museum, an Italian restaurant and a bar. Escape the heat at Streets Beach, Brisbane Australia's only beach in the middle of a city, this artificial swimming beach overlooking the Brisbane River and Central Business District is a sparkling blue lagoon giving blissful respite from the temperatures of the Queensland capital. Visit Daintree National Park in search of a cassowary North of the diving mecca of Cairns, the oldest rainforest on the planet, dating back 135–180 million years, is home to the ‘world’s angriest bird’, the large, flightless, horned-headed cassowary, which might be encountered as you drive. Failing seeing one in the wild, Port Douglas’ Wildlife Habitat is a good second-best.

I had the pleasure to visit The Capital Mirage while I was in Cape Town in July 2021. The location of this property is just perfect. It is located in the uber-trendy De Waterkant area. There is complimentary underground secure parking for all guests. For those guests without their vehicles, they offer complimentary scheduled shuttle services to the V&A Waterfront and the CTICC. Due to us being in Level 4-lockdown, I was unable to view the amazing rooftop restaurant. I did, however, get to see the Lume Beauty Atelier located on the ground floor of the building. Affordable prices and offering a one-stop pamper hub for guests in an extremely elegant setting. For those guests wanting to keep up with their healthy living routines, there is a modern gym boasting strength and cardiovascular equipment. The room/apartment types on offer are the Luxury Studio, Superior Studio and the 1, 2 and 3 Bedroom Apartments. The views from these rooms are stunning and the finishes are stylish. The Apartments offer you everything you need for a comfortable short or long stay. They can also assist guests with quarantine accommodation and are fully equipped to handle this. The Snooker lounge is a great addition for guests wanting to unwind and for those needing to get work done. There is a lounge area with plug points so you can meet with your colleagues to handle your business in a comfortable setting. If you are looking for a place to stay in Cape Town while you holiday, work, quarantine, or wait to be able to immigrate then The Capital Mirage will certainly meet all of your needs. Please get in touch with me for any requests.

We started our journey at 5:30 am on Sunday and headed off in convoy to Aha Alpine Heath Resort. Leaving this time on the weekend is great because the roads are so quiet that it is a very pleasant drive. If we were to just drive straight through and not stop then we would be looking at an approximate travel time of 3h30 min, but after hearing about Thanda Tau from a friend we decided to make a half-way stop to stretch our legs and get a coffee. I am glad we stopped as I was able to find out about the animal safaris on offer. I can pre-book these for you. Unfortunately, they have paused the game drives however, they have guided walks available. They run at 11:00 and 14:00, so if you leave early as we did, I can book them for your return. You can't miss the beautiful Sterkfontein Dam on your right, about half an hour before Alpine Heath. There's a place to stop, view and take a few pictures of this beautiful sight. Once you leave/pass Sterkfontein Dam the roads start to wind, but this is the perfect time to slow down to take in the amazing surroundings and views. En-route we passed 'All Out Adventures' which offer 10 awesome activities at one spectacular venue. A few of the highlights include SA’s fastest Cable Tour, Adventure Quad Trails, 150 kms of marked mountain bike trails, and a hair raising 17-meter free-fall King Swing accessed by a wooden spiral staircase that snakes 21 meters to the treetops. They also offer paintball, zip-lining, flying trapeze, bungee bounce and a kid’s zone which includes a ninja warrior junior course, trampoline and duelling sit and zips. The activities are all visible from the coffee shop lawn, so the less adventurous members of the party can kick back with a giant cappuccino and still feel like part of the action. They are open every day except Christmas from 09:00 to 16:30. On arrival at Alpine Heath, our rooms were not ready as the resort was full over the weekend and they were still cleaning, but we were able to already use the facilities so we changed into our swimming costumes and spent the morning and early afternoon at the pool... There is kids and adults pool and you are welcome to order drinks and food from the bar to enjoy at the pool area with your travel partners. We moved across to our 6 sleeper Deluxe self-catering chalet at 2 pm and I have shared a video on my website of how the chalet looks... There are also some which are ground floor only chalets which are wheelchair friendly. If you prefer and I can request these. These chalets are fully equipped for self-catering and serviced daily so still definitely a holiday. We enjoyed a braai on the first night, even though it started to rain. The beds were super comfortable and I had a fantastic sleep and woke up nice and early on Monday morning to enjoy one of the many hiking routes on offer. We took on the River Meander with my 4-year old, but did not make it to the river as we had to turn for her because it was just a little too far. My friend treated me to a spoil and we went to have a super relaxing back, neck and shoulder massage at the Be Spoilt Beauty Salon at 11:00. They have all the treatments available to ensure that you have a relaxing time while on your getaway. There are even the under 18 Teenage princess packages for the younger ones. These can be pre-booked to avoid the disappointment of no availability. The wind picked up a little after the massage, so we enjoyed the rest of the afternoon at our Chalet, outside and playing board games and ending off the evening with another braai... Did anyone realize just how much we love to braai yet? The following day my friend and I decided to do the Alpine Cascades Hike, the hike was beautiful and included stream crossing and the Cascades waterfall where you can sit and relax at the splendour of the Falls before continuing the path which winds its way through a valley between two hills. It has a bit of a tricky stream crossing after the hills so I wouldn’t suggest for young children to join in on this trail, hence why I didn’t bring my 4-year old with for this one. Once we returned from our hike we decided to go somewhere out of the resort and came across Royal Natal National Park which is about a 25-minute drive from Alpine Heath. The entrance fees for SADC residents are R40 per adult and R20 per child (12 and under). The entrance fees for international travellers are R80 per adult and R40 per child (12 and under). We received the Royal Natal and Rugged Glen Hiking Trails map at the Royal Natal Visitor Centre and were advised to do the Cascades and McKinley’s Pool Trail. My daughter and son in law were happy to find out that the hike was wheelchair friendly so they could bring my granddaughter along in her pram up until a point. My eldest daughter, son in law and I stopped where the trail was no longer pram friendly and had a bit of a swim in the small rock pool and waterfall area while my husband, youngest daughter and friend went onto the Cascades where there are multiple waterfalls and a big rock pool. I suggest this hike as one for the whole family, it was the highlight of our trip that everyone loved! I arranged a site inspection for the following morning to see all the awesome amenities available at Alpine Heath. They not only have multiple conference centres but also cater for weddings and have an on-site chapel. Their property offers the perfect backdrop to any occasion. I was also pleased to find out that the horse rides my 4-year old kept seeing and begging to do were available for children too and booked for her to do it the following morning before our departure. The horse rides cost R40 for children (12 and under) and R200 for adults. I can pre-book these for you before arriving at Alpine Heath. The next morning we packed up and took my daughter for her horse ride at 9 am, she rode the majestic Lisa-Marie and claimed that her dream had finally come true to ride a ‘big horse’. We then headed to the reception to check out at 10 am. We stopped on our way out at an open field with the beautiful rolling hills in the background to snap a few pics before heading home and saying goodbye to Alpine Heath…until our next visit.

Arriving at Ivory Manor Boutique Hotel, I was unsure of what to expect. I have to say I was so pleasantly surprised when I arrived. I certainly did not feel like I was in Pretoria. I received a warm welcome from the security gate. He escorted me and my 4-year-old to the entrance to ensure that we met up with the rest of our group. The Christmas decorations at the front entrance are framed by the double staircase leading up to the rooms is heartwarming. The water fountains and lush green gardens make you feel relaxed. It was time to unwind and enjoy our stay. We were treated to the yummiest pastries, teas and cappuccinos that were elegantly presented. My 4-year-old asked for tea, it was served in a beautiful teapot and a teacup and saucer decorated in a gold trim. She told me that she received that one as she is a Princess - so you know that we all felt like royalty. I was amazed to hear that this was once a residence and instead of selling the property the owners invested in it and found the best possible staff to ensure the most personalised experience and service for this 5-star boutique hotel. They have 9 beautifully and uniquely decorated rooms with huge beds, which boast stunning bathrooms with large showers and baths. There are several private rooms and gardens which can be set up for breakfast, lunch or dinners for guests. Each time you visit guests can experience a different area of the property whilst enjoying your meals. My top 3 areas were the Cigar bar, Rose garden and Wine cellar. There is a pool f to lounge in on beautiful sunny days and a courtyard to sit and indulge in some day time reading. I was excited when Sam took us to the shop on site. It sells a number of the beautiful pieces seen displayed throughout the property. Definitely make a stop before you head home, and have your credit card handy. What I loved is that the property offers so many different areas and can cater for conferences, private events, weddings and so much more... You can enjoy a divine Sunday lunch or head there for a delectable Christmas lunch just to experience a little of what is on offer. I suggest that you take the time to stay over to fully understand the beauty that this property has to offer.

Zanzibar opened its borders to South African travellers on the 28th of November. I took the opportunity to brush up on my knowledge of the island, including some resorts. Some important things to take note of when travelling to Zanzibar during COVID: * No Quarantine is required * Mandatory negative PCR test upon arrival. (Not older than 72 hours.) * You will also need to do a PCR test in Zanzibar for your return to SA. Some resorts are offering the tests at their property. Otherwise travellers will need to make their way to Stone Town to get it done. Please check this with me and factor in the cost thereof. Zanzibar is a short 3h35 minute direct flight from Johannesburg, so makes it for a great holiday, if you don’t want to travel too far. All the resorts are very traditional and African in style, with thatched roofs and they look and reflect Island life. There are lovely day excursions to go and enjoy like: • Stone town City tour • Prison Island • Spice tour • Jozani Forest • A dolphin tour • Dhow cruises • Giant starfish snorkelling • Swimming and interacting with turtles and many more… Speak to me if you would like to visit this tropical paradise.

I found this unique boutique guest house in Weltevreden Park, Johannesburg because we needed a lovely setting to hold our supplier training and it certainly lived up to that. The Staff were all so warm and welcoming and they made sure that our every need was met. A table was set up on the porch so that we could enjoy the beautiful weather outside overlooking the immaculate gardens. After our training we were given a quick tour of the property and rooms and I fell in love with all of the special touches to keep the charm of this Monumental building. They offer 6 luxury guest rooms – all named after wines so it was definitely up my alley – and each was uniquely decorated. They also have options for function venues where you can host any function from a kitchen tea, birthday party or small to medium wedding. Other facilities include and indoor heated pool and gym for those that like to stay active. If you would like to find our more about this gem, then please get in touch.

One of the best months of the year to travel to Mauritius is in October, at the beginning of their summer. It is hot, but not too hot to handle being outside on the beach all day. The rain is much less over this period too, but don't worry about rain because it has tropical island weather. It will rain and shortly after the clouds will clear up and the sun will be back out in full force so you can enjoy the water sports, a cocktail at the Beach bar or just lazing next to the ocean enjoying a good book. This is my second visit to the beautiful LUX* Grand Gaube and as a transit stopover on my way back from a holiday in Australia, Mauritius is a great option for a relaxing holiday before heading back to reality! My reasons for choosing to return to LUX* Grand Gaube is because of the delectable gastronomic experience, superior service, phenomenal rooms, adults-only Banyan tree area (when not travelling with my children of course) and all the activities on offer. I believe that the only way to travel in Mauritius is on the All-Inclusive package. If you want to enjoy yourself without worrying about the cost of a cocktail or a meal or even a bottle of water/coke from the mini bar, then this is the right package for you. Some chain hotels are interchangeable which means that even if you want to go and explore the island of Mauritius then you could stop at a sister hotel for lunch and a different experience, so you won't be losing out. Just remember that the choice is yours when in Mauritius. You can spend all your time at your chosen resort, in which case you must choose carefully to ensure that they have enough activities and entertainment on offer that you will enjoy. OR you can choose to go and explore the island and all it has on offer. I can help you select the right hotel and make suggestions on what to do. If you are an avid golf enthusiast, then Mauritius has so many golf courses to choose from. You can choose your resort which is linked to a golf course that you would like to play on. Here you can either have a complimentary game included or benefit from the hugely discounted rates on offer. Here are some of the excursions that you can do while in Mauritius: (there are plenty more on offer) Day trips to Ile des Deux Cocos or Ile aux Cerfs: These are great times out on beautiful beaches with snorkelling and kayaking on offer in the clear blue ocean. Catamaran cruises: Where you can cruise out to enjoy the sunset and partake in some jungle juice (not for the faint-hearted). Visit the beauty of the Pamplemousse Botanical gardens and Chamarel to view the Seven Coloured Earth. Kite surfing in Le Morne is a must if this is something on your bucket list. One of my firm favourites is shopping, but only because I am a woman and a shopaholic. Here are a few tips on where you should go shopping while on the island: * NORTH COAST: Goodlands - Every Tuesday & Friday for clothing * WEST COAST: Cascavelle Shopping mall (Flic en Flac) - 50 shops, restaurants and food court * SOUTH-EAST COAST: Mahebourg - Every Monday * EAST COAST: Flacq market - Every Sunday & Wednesday I thought to end this off that I would share a few more reasons to go to LUX* Grand Gaube just because I can. Have you ever wanted to phone home while overseas and because of the cost you never did? Well at any LUX* property there is a public phone that you can use to call anyone you want to anywhere in the world and share your amazing trip experiences with them EVERY day and it is FREE #LUX Spa experiences when you are on holiday are just the BEST. LUX* for ME offers you a wide range of Spa experiences and at LUX Grand Gaube I had the pleasure of enjoying a 30-minute back massage. Wow, I wish it could have gone on forever! It was a wonderfully relaxing experience and the massage oils were so great that I had to buy some to take back home. They have their own LUX* range so be sure to go, take a look so you can take some home with you too. You get to relax next to the splash pools on a sun lounger sipping on some iced tea or detox water. I almost had a nap right there in the calmness of it all. But honestly, anything you want... The treatment area is broken up into 2. One side is the Beauty area. There is a men’s section which is like an actual old-fashioned barbershop with so many men's pamper products, it's crazy. A hair salon for the ladies, a nail bar and a Bridal section... Yes, you read correctly! A whole area just to prepare the Bride and her bridal party for their location wedding at LUX* Grand Gaube. The other side is the Spa with all the treatment rooms for massages, facials and body treatments. I always say that if you put something you want out into the universe you stand a much better chance of that wish coming true, so why not go and add your wish to the Wishing Tree? The bonus is that they clear these trees once a year and draw one lucky traveller to win a holiday at that resort. How amazing is that? I think that might just be the wish I add to the tree... Don't forget to add your name! French Kiss... Adult ice cream anyone? Available at the adults-only Banyan tree area. Ice cream is the best but includes alcohol with this and you have a dreamy yummy dessert made especially for adults. G&T 100 Club is for all of the Gin lovers (like me) out there. It is open from 17h00 - 22h30 every night (except Tuesday) and you can try some of the over 100 gins on offer and with all types of mixes. They have had plenty of time to experiment with the Gin so believe me you want to go try the different combinations! To eat at the only Turkish restaurant on the island of Mauritius currently, you must come to LUX* Grand Gaube. I met with the Turkish chef at Bodrum Blue and he was such a lovely guy. His food was stunning, such a lovely menu with food that leaves you wanting more. The ambience and the fact that you feel like you are right on the water just add to this wonderful experience. I could go on and on about this hotel, but I will end off here. Feel free to get in touch with me if you want to know more about LUX* Grand Gaube or a holiday in Mauritius.
